In this certification level, owners learn the skills of practical application - how to handle and control their dogs in many different real life situations! Isn't this what dog training is all about?

This training and assessment innovation for weekly dog obedience classes is the culmination of many years of teaching owners how to handle their dogs in real life situations.

It's another first for our industry that really sets Alpha apart from the rest!

Alpha Dog Training's unique Split System Class Structures are not just about learning more and more obedience exercises, they're about teaching owners how to attain realistic skills and understanding that actually translate to trust, leadership and control... under distraction!

You see, at Alpha we're simply not interested in whether your dog can sit, drop or stay whilst performing a set routine or when everything is quiet and peaceful, we want your dogs to do all these things when you're at a BBQ or in a park with heaps of people and dogs around. In fact, Alpha's Training Director, Greg Fontana has for a long time unofficially dubbed the Split System's level 6 as the BBQ level - the level in which owners can control their dogs in realistic situations.

Now the concept is official.

What better way to create true understanding of practical obedience application than to actually create random, real-life scenarios within the actual class. Level 6 is conducted in and around an active BBQ environment (each session) where the owners and dogs practice their obedience and good behaviour shaping in real-time.

In the Alpha Dog Training Lifestyle Certification level (level 6), owners learn how to apply their obedience skills and theory under many, many different distractions.

The BBQ scenario is also enhanced by the hustle and bustle of the actual class going on at the same time. As you can imagine, in this class owners really get to know their dogs and have the opportunity to train them under some high level, but realistic distraction.

It also gives the instructors a chance to actively assess dogs in challenging situations and to question owners on the theory and concepts behind their handling. And you wait 'till you see them in action, you'll be amazed at what can be achieved with your dogs when you're taught how!

The BBQ environment is a great test for owners and their dogs. Alpha trainers not only create different challenging scenarios, they also give advice and feedback in real-time, keeping a watchful eye on your handling and communication skills.

When an owner and dog team pass their course at level 6 and have achieved Alpha Dog Training's Lifestyle Obedience Certification, they are now prepared for both real life scenarios with their dogs and the Alpha advanced obedience levels.
